Winterize Information - Great Lakes Marine

We Build a 2″x4″ framework behind the windshield to support the snow weight, also use a strapping framework for the bow and a belly strap to retain all shrink wrap.
We have 14′ wide, 17′ wide, 20′ wide and 28′ wide shrink wrap
Shrink Wrap is a great way to protect your interior and exterior from UV and not have to worry about tearing your covers during heavy snows

We offer 2 different winterize packages for sterndrive engines:

-Minor Winterize (this will secure the boat for the winter)

Stabilize the fuel
Run the engine on stabilized fuel and fog engine (which coats the internal components of the engine with a viscous fluid to help prevent rusting and sticking of internal components during storage, and also provides extra lubrication on initial startup )
Drain all the water from drain plugs and hoses then re-install hoses and plugs so the engine is ready to run next year
***** NOTE IT IS THE CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that there is no water leaking from the engine upon startup after winterization. Great Lakes Marine also requires that customer watches to ensure that engine does not overheat as water pump impellers can fail during winter storage.

-Complete Winterize (this not only secures the boat for the winter it also includes a complete service)

Change engine oil and filter
Change Fuel Filter when Applicable
Pull Sterndrive and grease gimbal bearing, u-joints and drive shaft check bellows for signs of tears check gimbal bearing for signs of rust or rough spots then re-install drive
Change gear lube
Stabilize the fuel
Run the engine on stabilized fuel and fog engine (which coats the internal components of the engine with a viscous fluid to help prevent rusting and sticking of internal components during storage, and also provides extra lubrication on initial startup)
Drain all the water from drain plugs and hoses then re-install hoses and plugs so the engine is ready to run next year

– Generators, A/C, cockpit heaters, and water systems are all drained then filled with anti-freeze

Hard Ballast tanks get run with anti-freeze going to the pump to get pump and lines filled with anti-freeze
